Community and Human Services Academic and Career Pathway Barber TECHNICAL DIPLOMA | PROGRAM CODE: 31-502-5 Program Description This program prepares you to work in the barbering profession, in compliance with the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. You will learn shampooing, cutting and hairstyling techniques, shaving, beard trimming, hair coloring, and other services. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the state board licensing exam. Admission Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent Waiting List: Yes. Career Outlook Employment prospects for licensed barbers are excellent. Many barbers are self-employed, either owning their business or leasing booth space. Program Learning Outcomes • Perform shaving and other facial hair removal services. • Perform basic facial services. • Perform shampoo, haircut and style services. • Perform chemical services. • Develop business practices for industry success. • Adhere to the current state and federal administrative codes and statutes for barbers.
