ART-202 Credits:3 Renaissance to Modern Art and Architecture This art history class will survey art making through its historical, religious, social and political contexts in Western civilization from the Renaissance period (c. 1400 AD) through the Modern Age. Major focus will be placed on how cultural and religious values during the historical periods under study are re fl ected in art, and the artistic signi fi cance of the art of these periods to our considerations of art and culture today. ART-203 Credits:3 Ancient to Medieval Art and Architecture This art history class will survey art making through its historical, social, religious and political contexts in Western civilization, from the Prehistoric period through the Middle Ages. Major focus will be placed on how cultural and religious values during the historical periods under study are re fl ected in art, and the cultural signi fi cance of the art of these periods to our considerations of art and culture today. ART-204 Credits:3 Drawing From Observation The goal of this course is to explore the process of drawing as a way of seeing, investigating and experiencing. The student learns to use line, shape, value, texture, space, proportion and composition while striving for increased eye-hand coordination. The course places primary emphasis on depicting forms in space through the observational drawing of objects and self-portraits. While experimentation and imaginative problem-solving are important and essential aspects of the course, the main thrust of the course is analytical seeing and drawing while using a variety of black-and-white media. Audio – Audio Production (Department 701) AUDIO-100 Credits:1 Introduction to Audio Software An introduction to digital audio workstations, Pro Tools and Logic Pro. Students will learn introductory editing, MIDI and mixing skills in a lab environment. AUDIO-102 Credits:3 Techniques of Sound Recording Studio recording is the focus of this course. Microphone selection and placement, signal fl ow, and signal processing during tracking and mixing will have a central focus in lecture and lab hours. Using Pro Tools and Logic, students will record voice, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, electric bass and acoustic drums. The class culminates with recording and mixing a live band. Prerequisite(s): Completion of or currently enrolled in AUDIO-100. AUDIO-103 Credits:3 Recording Live Concerts Recording Live Concerts teaches the elements of signal fl ow, microphone selection and placement, mixing, and professionalism in a live concert environment. Prerequisite(s): Completion of or currently enrolled in AUDIO-100.

Advanced Audio Software A continuation of AUDIO-100, Advanced Audio Software offers in-depth, practical study and application of modern mixing techniques in Pro Tools and Logic. Time and pitch correction, comping, sidechain routing, and automation are all covered. Prerequisite(s): Complete AUDIO-100 or MUSIC-113. AUDIO-114 Credits:2 Critical Listening of Sound/Music This course introduces ear training and analysis from the perspective of the audio engineer, including frequency recognition and contemporary production techniques. The student will learn to aurally analyze and identify contemporary popular song forms and production styles used. Prerequisite(s): Complete AUDIO-100 and MUSIC-148, MUSIC-150 or MUSIC-149. AUDIO-116 Credits:3 Advanced Techniques/ Sound Recording This course builds on the skills learned in AUDIO-102. Emphasis is placed on modern and classic recording and production techniques in a hands-on studio environment. Prerequisite(s): Complete AUDIO-102 or MUSIC-154. AUDIO-117 Credits:3 Sound Reinforcement Sound Reinforcement provides the student with a foundation of theoretical principles and industry standard practices in live sound reinforcement, mixing for front-of-house and monitors, utilization of wireless microphone and in-ear monitor, and general audio stagecraft are introduced. Taught in one of the college’s performance auditoriums, emphasis is placed on indoor sound reinforcement applications using contemporary analog and digital mixing consoles, speaker systems, and microphones. The individual components of the sound system are explained in-detail, their best implementation planned, and then set up and used by the student in providing live sound for MATC Music program concerts. AUDIO-118 Credits:2 Studio Management and Design Studio Management and Design covers the fundamentals of basic studio operations including accounting, client relations, staff, advertising and equipment management. Strong emphasis is placed on scheduling, promotion, marketing and interpersonal relationship communications. Also covered are the basic elements of studio construction, room acoustics and project studio acoustic treatments. Prerequisite(s): Complete AUDIO-102. AUDIO-120 Audio Production for Video Media This course is a lecture/lab covering the issues of audio for fi lm including ADR, Foley, library sound effects, sound effect creation and enhancement, fi eld recording, managing sync dialog, environmental ambiance, and using music libraries and original music. Prerequisite(s): Complete AUDIO-100. Credits:3

Advanced MIDI Recording Advanced MIDI Recording covers the creative use of software instruments and sampling as a compositional tool, as well as teaching techniques for using MIDI to augment an existing sound or mix. Students will compose their own pieces of music using these tools. Prerequisite(s): Complete AUDIO-100. AUDIO-126 Credits:2 Electronics for Audio Engineers Students will learn the principles of electronics technology with an emphasis on applications to audio engineering both in theory and practice. Basic circuits, soldering, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair will be covered. Prerequisite(s): Complete AUDIO-102 or MUSIC-154. AUDIO-127 Credits:3 Mastering for Media Mastering for Media is an in-depth study, application and practice of mastering audio for multiple formats and applications. Prerequisite(s): Complete AUDIO-102. AUDIO-128 Final Project-Field Work This is the students’ recording project of their choosing of any of the audio disciplines, including in-studio multitrack recording, live concert recording, sound for fi lm, gaming or web interactive audio. From concept to completion, the student will notate, process and journal the details in creating the audio recording. Prerequisite(s): Complete AUDIO-116. AUDIO-129 Credits:2 Audio for Interactive Media Audio for Interactive Media covers the basics of sound design and audio implementation for video game audio. The course utilizes various industry-standard digital audio workstations, Wwise audio middleware, and Unity game development software. Prerequisite(s): Complete AUDIO-111. AUDIO-131 Credits:2 Ableton Live Ableton Live covers music production and performance in the software Ableton Live, as well as peripheral hardware essential for performing with a computer. Prerequisite(s): Complete AUDIO-100. AUTO1 – Auto Maintenance Technician (Department 404) AUTO1-302 Credits:2 Powertrain Maintenance and Light Repair Fundamentals The fundamentals of design, construction and operation of automotive engine and drivetrain components are studied. Discussions, lectures and demonstrations pertain to the diagnosis, maintenance and light repair of these units. Credits:3
