Healthcare Academic and Career Pathway Anesthesia Technology

Program Description Become an anesthesia technologist and you’ll be a vital member of the anesthesia care team. These technologists work under the direction of the anesthesia provider and are pro fi cient in the acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment required for the delivery of anesthesia care. Graduates are eligible to take the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists & Technicians (ASATT) National Certi fi cation Examination to become certi fi ed as an Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.). Admission Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent Academic Preparedness Requirements: Before taking core courses, a student must meet the following criteria: • GPA of 2.5 or higher at MATC • Complete BIOSCI-177 and HEALTH-101 with a C+ or higher. • Pass the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) with a score of 70% or higher (three lifetime attempts in person). Program Learning Outcomes • Apply healthcare and technological science principles to the OR environment. • Operate patient-related equipment. • Perform intraoperative case management as an anesthesia technologist. • Apply aseptic techniques in preparing and handling instruments and supplies for anesthesia procedures. • Anticipate the needs of the patient and the anesthesia provider. • Monitor patient vital signs and hemodynamics.
