Funded by a $2.7 million grant from the Missouri Department of Higher Education / Office of Workforce Development, the program will support at least 250 new CDA apprentices, increasing the availability of affordable, quality childcare slots in the Kansas City and St. Louis regions. Kansas City / St. Louis Childcare Challenges More than 60% of Missouri parents reported missing work in the last 3 months due to childcare issues. 1 in 10 Missourians left jobs completely. Kansas City and St. Louis have a childcare slot shortage of more than 20% per region. US Chamber of Commerce estimates MO loses over $1.3 billion per year due to childcare-related barriers.
