the end of 2020, revenue percentages have cooled substantially. The interesting thing about meas uring growth over a four-year period is the way major fluctuations in any one company’s numbers are smoothed out. But a lot is riding on chance—whether a steep decline occurred in a baseline year or in the two years that followed. In those cases, recovery during a fourth year can provide some extra oomph! to companies seeking to make this list. So things will really start to get interesting over the next two years, and especially into 2024 when 2020—a year we’ll all remember well forever— becomes the baseline. For now, though, enjoy this year’s Corporate Report 100 and get to know themany new faces emerging on the bus- iness scene in the Kansas City region.

OBSERVATIONS FROM THE 2022 CR100 • The addition of 38 new companies to the CR100 roster brings to 1,433 the number of companies that have made at least one appearance on this list. • The oldest operating company on this list, for a second straight year, is Pioneer Music, founded in 1869. • On the flip side of that, two companies—No. 1 Hawaiian Bros and No. 2 HomeRoom Living—are on the list in their first year of eligibility, having been founded in 2018. • The combined revenues of these 100 companies in 2021 topped $20.23 bilion, up from $10.59 billion in 2018. • That’s an average growth rate of 91.08 percent for the entire field. • Five companies moved up one spot each on the All-Time CR100 Honor Roll: CRB (14 appearances), ECCO Select and Platinum Realty (11 each), and a pair with 10 each: Bank of Blue Valley and Propio Language Services.

Corporate Report 100 No. 1 Companies (1986-2022) For 37 years, Ingram’s has had its finger on the pulse of Kansas City’s fastest-growing companies with our Corporate Report 100 annual ranking. Tens of thousands of companies have submitted financial- performance figures over that time, and well more than 1,400 have earned their way onto this prestigious ranking at least once. Glancing through the No. 1 honorees in each of those years evokes images of compa nies that went from startup to titan ... or to something else. Fast growth for many has been the pathway to bigger and better things. For others, it’s been more than a curse, it was a riddle that couldn’t be solved. But each year was a snapshot in time, taking us back to what were once halcyon days for many. The upshot of all that change? While most of the companies recognized over the past decade are still hard at work, 16 of the 25 honored through 2010 have been acquired, moved, or ceased operating in Kansas City. Perhaps the ancient Romans had it right:
