And right here in the Heart of America Council, our Scouts are learning more than just how to tie a knot and collect badges. We are preparing our Scouts to lead effectively, manage conflict, become role models and set goals for their future. Since 1910, Scouting has helped mold the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. Through more than a century of experience, we know that helping youth succeed puts us on a path toward a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society. Our Scouts are learning the building blocks of leadership from the moment they join.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Scouting is where leaders to learn to lead. From running corporations to walking on the moon, the accomplishments of Scouting alumni have shaped our country. Leadership is taught at every level of Scouting from Cub Scouts all the way to Eagle. EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING Scouting’s advancement program develops resilience by providing a series of surmountable obstacles and the steps to overcome them. Scouts progress at their own pace as they meet each challenge and explore new opportunities. CAREER EXPLORATION Scouting inspires youth to explore their futures and opens a new and exciting world around them. Scouting puts youth on the path to a successful career by introducing them to purpose packed adventures. COMMUNITY IMPACT For more than one-hundred years, Scouting has led the charge to make our communities better places to live through giving back and instilling values. Scouting’s impact transcends national origin, race, gender, political affiliation and time.
