After sitting out three years because of the pandemic, the Heroes in Healthcare awards breakfast made its comeback in a big way on March 29. A sold-out venue at Fiorella’s Event Space in Overland Park celebrated the recogni tion of this year’s honorees, chosen from the fields of administration, nursing, professional and auxiliary service, volunteers and lifetime service. Resumption of the traditional program format brought together not just the honorees,

but health-care executives, family, friends and co-workers. Honorees received their awards and, in a brief Q&A format, relayed their own experi ences in health care on multiple levels—through the pandemic, through changes in care professions, through innovation that improves delivery of care and through personal and professional challenges. Their stories, collectively, demonstrated once again why the Kansas City region is known for excep tional care: It’s provided by exceptional people.
