Spirit of Napa In the Spirit of Napa Valley by Jennifer Raiser (published by Assouline on July 10, $50) is the latest in a series of weighty coffee table tomes – this one is a whopping 160 pages – following on from In the Spirit of Capri , Aspen and St Barths . San Francisco-based Raiser picks out some of Napa’s best farmer’s markets, castles and estates, and, of course, vineyards. Look out for the illustrated maps that look like something from a children’s book, charting the best driving routes through the valley, and also for the foreword from chef and restaurateur Thomas Keller of The French Laundry fame. If you’re in the Napa area, Keller’s pop-up restaurant Ad Lib at The Royal Oak Silverado Resort and Spa (co-owned by his good friend, the golf pro Johnny Miller), is well worth a visit for its straightforward, meaty menu of filet mignons, beef short-rib wellingtons and broiled lobster tails. assouline.com, thomaskeller.com
