THE NETTERS

The Sterling Rangers have become a super-power inside GCCISD under the direction of John Tremmel and continued to stack their trophy case last season. The 2022 Rangers Team Tennis squad won District, Bi-District and Area. They advanced to the Regional Quarters. Sterling tennis signed three to college scholarships. Matthew De Luna and Nataly Velasco are headed to University of St. Thomas and Lucas Northcutt will play for Belhaven University.

RUN THIS TOWN

The Sterling Rangers’ Brock Glasscock led the way for the district’s cross country field. The senior won the District 17-5A Title and appeared at the State Meet. He led his team to a third-place district finish. Goose Creek Memorial took silver as a team in the district race. The Patriot girls’ team finished second and Sterling landed in sixth. Luna Lerma was GCCISD’s top female finisher in eighth place.

SOCCER’S SENSATIONAL SEASON

It was a sensational soccer season inside of the GCCISD. All three boys’ programs advanced to the postseason. Goose Creek Memorial won District 17-5A going undefeated at 9-0-1. Sterling finished in the third spot with a record of 7-4-3 and Lee reached the playoffs in the fourth spot. On the girls’ side, it was Goose Creek Memorial representing the district, finishing in the district’s fourth spot.
