Gilbert, Arizona

In 1965, the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce recommended that all the stores in Gilbert change their storefronts to a Western style. Most of the merchants in downtown Gilbert went along with the idea, and the town designed sidewalk overhangs to look Western.
