Shortcomings (Randall Park) Dramedy follows three friends in Berkeley, CA — one a lesbian grad student with a serial dating habit — as they search for their ideal partner in a crazy world. Theater Camp (Molly Gordon, Nick Lieberman) Comedy takes place at a rundown theater camp in upstate New York when the founder ’ s macho son takes over, forcing the zany staff to band to gether to save the campy thespian paradise. You Can Live Forever (Mark Slutsky & Sarah Watts) Drama fol lows a lesbian teenager who ’ s sent to live in a Jehovah ’ sWitness community, where she falls in love with a devout Witness girl. Dragon Mama Drama about a lesbian who gets a chance to start a new life — but only if she abandons her family and her newborn daughter. At the Diversionary Theater in San Diego, Sept. 14 – Oct. 8. Before the Sword Play about T. H. White posits that his inspiration for The Sword in the Stone came from a young man who wandered into his life. At the NCTC in San Francisco, Sept. 15 – Oct. 15. FatHam Hamlet -inspired play about a gay Black man who ’ s trying to break away from his provincial Southern family when his father ’ s ghost appears and instructs him to avenge his murder. At the Hunt ington Theatre in Boston, Sept. 22 – Oct. 22. Breaking the Binary Theatre Fest. A new org. for queer theater in NYC will hold its second annual festival to showcase works by nonbinary playwrights. Oct. 23 – 29. www.btb-nyc.com.
