The History of Sound (Oliver Hermanus) Drama centers on a mu sical prodigy from Kentucky who bonds with a New England lad over a love of American folk music—but then WWI breaks out. Pee wee as Himself (Matt Wolf) TV docu. in two eps chronicles the life of Paul Reubens and his alter ego Pee-wee Herman. Peter Hujar’s Day (Ira Sachs) Docudrama starring Ben Whishaw as Hujar is based on a recently discovered 1974 conversation in which he talks about the NYC art scene and his own photography. Plainclothes (Carmen Emmi) Drama centers on an undercover cop assigned to lure and arrest gay men who falls in love with one of his targets, throwing him into moral crisis over duty vs. truth. Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror (Linus O’Brien) Docu. by the son of Rocky creator Richard O’Brien takes us from the West End musical to the midnight film sensation. Twinless (James Sweeney) Drama follows a gay man who goes to a grief support group after the death of his twin brother, where he meets a straight man with whom he forms an intense bond. Prince F*ggot Off-Broadway satire in which a “ruling class” of LGBTQ performers is forced to reckon with their power and privi lege. At the Studio Seaview thru Nov. 9th. The Rocky Horror Show Revival of the West End classic plays at the BrightSide Theatre in Naperville, IL, thru Nov. 9th. Spanish Stew Comedy by Marga Gomez finds the young Marga fleeing her New York home for San Francisco, where she meets her first love. At the Walker Theatre in San Francisco thru Nov. 23rd. ToMyGirls Play follows a tight-knit group of gay men who reunite in Palm Springs for a fun weekend that takes a serious turn. At the Diversionary Theatre in San Diego, Nov. 13.–Dec 7. FunHome Musical based on Alison Bechdel’s graphic memoir finds her growing up in a funeral home with her fabulous (gay) father. At the Huntington Theater in Boston, Nov 13.–Dec 14. Oh, Mary!
