Art Exhibitions My Policeman (Michael Grandage) Drama set in in 1950s Britain features a young cop who’s married to a schoolteacher while hav ing a passionate same-sex affair with a museum curator. Peter Von Kant (François Ozon) Drama finds the title figure, a suc cessful French filmmaker, jaded and drinking heavily when a charis matic young ne’er-do-well walks into his life. The Sixth Reel (Carl Andress & Charles Busch) Comedy stars the ever campy Busch as a down-and-out director who discovers a long-lost film of legendary importance. Hilarity ensues. Thor: Love and Thunder (Taika Waititi) Blockbuster fantasy that pits Thor against Gorr the God Butcher has aroused controversy, including a Christian boycott, over gay undercurrents. The Whale (Darren Aronofsky) Brendan Fraser stars as a middle aged man trying to reconnect with his estranged family after his lover’s death, which also brought on a habit of binge eating. Mosque4Mosque Comedy about a thirty-something gay Arab American who’s constantly being reminded how unmarried he is by his mother, so his sister steps in to help her brother get married— to a man. At About Face Theatre in Chicago, Nov. 17–Dec. 17. Head Over Heels Musical comedy set to the music of the Go-Go’s follows a royal family on an outrageous journey to save their king dom. At two venues: Baltimore Theatre Project, Dec. 3–18; and Kalita Humphreys Theater in Dallas, Dec. 12–18. The Mystery of Irma Vep Classic camp play by Charles Ludlam riffs on vampire movies, Victorian romance, Gothic fiction, etc. At the Diversionary Theater in San Diego, Dec. 1–24. Oy Vey in aManger Sendup of Holiday traditions includes spoofs of classic songs with titles like “Soylent Night” and “God Bless Ye Femmy Lesbians.” At the NCTC in San Francisco, Dec. 7–31. Company Broadway revival turns Bobby into Bobbie in a gender flipping re-interpretation of Stephen Sondheim’s classic “concept musical.” Ongoing at the Bernard Jacobs Theater. Theater / Dance Aubrey Beardsley, 150 Years Young Features ca. 70 of his works, at the Grolier Club’s 2nd Floor Gallery in NYC, thru Nov. 12th. The Big Gay Art Show is back. It’s a juried show that exhibits and sells artwork in support of the LGBTQ + community. At the Sedona (AZ) Arts Center, Dec. 7–23. Follow the Yellow Brick Road Key moments in the history of the LGBT struggle, presented in a Wizard of Oz motif. At the Stonewall Nat’l Museum & Archives, Ft. Lauderdale, thru Dec. 31st.
