Exhibitions Peter Hujar’s Day (Ira Sachs) Docudrama stars Ben Whishaw as photographer Peter Hujar in conversation with Linda Rosenkrantz on NYC’s downtown art scene in the 1970s. Plainclothes (Carmen Emmi) Drama follows an undercover officer assigned to lure and arrest gay men who falls in love with a man he encounters, causing a major moral dilemma. The Room Next Door (Pedro Almodóvar) Drama stars Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton as youthful friends who meet again years later and develop a very different kind of relationship. Sex Love Venice (Steve Balderson) Romantic drama finds a heart broken Michael in Venice, where he tries being a slut, then meets a man who opens his heart to a new outlook on life. The Visitor (Bruce LaBruce) Sex comedy about a refugee who’s taken in by a wealthy English family and seduces each member in turn, leav ing a void in their lives when he suddenly disappears. The Wedding Banquet (Andrew Ahn) Comedy stars Bowen Yang as a gay man who arranges a green-card marriage to his lesbian friend— whose family decides to throw a Korean wedding banquet. The Picture of Dorian Gray Broadway stage adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s novel stars Sarah Snook playing all 26 roles. Ongoing at the Music Box Theater in NYC,. Trick! The Musical Follows two young men in NYC whose one night stand turns into a series of madcap complications. At the Out Front Theatre Co. in Atlanta, May 1–17. The Jonathan Larson Project Musical assembles songs from Rent , Tick, Tick… BOOM! , Superbia , and other works into a new story. At the Orpheum Theater in NYC thru June 1st. Angels in America: Perestroika Part II of the classic drama follows last year’s staging of Part I at the Provincetown Theater, May 8–25. ToMyGirls Dramedy follows a group of gay friends who reunite in Palm Springs for a fun weekend that gets pretty intense. At the NCTC in San Francisco, May 9–June 8. MerryMe “Sapphic sex farce” set on a Navy base features a bevy of zany characters. Diversionary Theatre, San Diego, May 15–June 8. La Calisto Venetian opera mashes up Roman myths and bends the genders every whichaway. At Opera Memphis, May 21st & 23rd. Kiss of the Spider Woman (Bill Condon) Remake of the classic drama stars Jennifer Lopez as the “spider woman” in Molina’s yarn about a Hollywood musical, as told to his prison cellmate. My Dead Friend Zoe (Kyle Hausmann-Stokes) Drama about an Afghanistan veteran who clashes with her family due to the ghostly presence of her lover Zoe, who died in the war. OnSwi ft Horses (Daniel Minahan) Drama opens with a hetero cou ple, Lee and Muriel, feeling upbeat until the arrival of the Lee’s brother prompts Muriel to explore a whole new way of life.
