Exhibitions 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted a Culture (Rocky Rog gio) Docu. revisits the moment when two scholars discovered that the Bible’s anti-gay message is based on a simple mistranslation. Of anAge (Goran Stolevski) Serbian drama set in the summer of ’99 tells of an intense, 24-hour romance between a seventeen-year old dancer and his best friend’s older brother. PetitMal (Ruth Caudeli) Billed as “real fiction,” charts the direc tor’s polyamorous relationship with two other women as they cope with intimacy, jealousy, loneliness, etc. Will-o’-the-Wisp (Jaão Pedro Rodrigues) Fantasy opens in 2069 as a dying “king without a crown” looks back on a time closer to the present, when he had a hot, idyllic affair with a fireman. Angels in America Millennium Approaches, Part 1 of Tony Kush ner’s two-part epic drama, will run at the Central Sq. Theater in Cambridge, MA, thru May 21st. TheProm Musical about an Iowa girl whose high school bars her from taking her girlfriend to the prom—but then four Broadway has beens show up. At the Speakeasy, Boston, May 5–June 3. Gender Play, or what you Will One-man show with Will Wilhelm conjuring Shakespeare’s characters in all their gender fluidity and homoeroticism. At Chicago’s About Face Theatre, May 4–June 5. The Confession of Lily Dare Charles Busch’s latest burlesque, set on the Barbary Coast, follows one woman’s paved-with-good-inten tions road to hell. At the NCTC in San Francisco, May 12–June 11. Head Over Heels Based on Sir Philip Sidney’s The Arcadia ,musi cal fairytale tells of a mythical royal family who go on a journey in which gender roles are upended and new forms of love discovered. Freedom Uncut (David Austin and George Michael) Re-released docu. was George Michael’s last work, in which he reflects on his ca reer, his passions (including for men), and the meaning of life. Gimme Some Truth: Nelly & Nadine (Magnus Gertten) Docu. on two women who fell in love in the Ravensbrück concentration camp in late 1944, survived, and kept their relationship secret for years. The Inspection (Elegance Bratton) Drama about a young, gay Black man, kicked out by his homophobic mother, who joins the Marines to escape homelessness and to succeed in a hostile environment. Little Richard: I Am Everything (Lisa Cortes) Docu. on the ’50s phenom who helped shape rock’n’roll music in its early years.
