Plainclothes (Carmen Emmi) Drama centers on an undercover cop assigned to lure and arrest gay men, who falls in love with one of his targets, throwing him into moral crisis over duty vs. truth. Sane Inside Insanity: The Phenomenon of Rocky Horror (Andreas Zerr) Docu. chronicles the musical’s unlikely rise through never– before-seen interviews and rare archival footage. Le ft Field New play is set in the future when the U.S. elects its first gay president. At the Rhino Theater in San Francisco thru March 15. Straddle Comedy about a longtime couple celebrating yet another anniversary who decide to spice up their sex life. At the Diversion ary Theater in San Diego thru March 15th. OurHouse Drama set in Iowa a year before marriage equality finds an older gay couple planning to host the marriage of a nephew and his Black fiancé. At the Gural Theatre in NYC, Feb. 28–March 21. Gods and Monsters Play based on Christopher Bram’s novel about aging Frankenstein director James Whale and his handsome young gardener. At the NCTC in San Francisco, March 6–April 5. Dragon Mama Part 2 in the “Dragon Cycle” finds Maria Porkalob, Jr., dreaming of a bigger, gayer life beyond the confines of Bre merton, WA. At the Geffen Playhouse in L.A., March 4–April 12. Modern Gentleman Drama finds 28-year-old Adam, a newly sin gle transman, navigating the dating world, where old demons lurk. At the About Face Theatre in Chicago, March 19–April 18. Breaking the Code Play about Alan Turing, father of the computer and breaker of the Nazis’ Enigma Code, later convicted of “gross in decency.” At Central Sq. Theatre in Cambridge, MA, April 2–26. Oh, Mary! A campy take on Lincoln’s last days, as Mary Todd (played by John Cameron Mitchell) longs to be a cabaret singer while serving as Abe’s beard. Ongoing at the Lyceum Theatre in NYC. I Was Born This Way (Daniel Junge & Sam Pollard) Docu. tells the story of Black singer Carl Bean and how the disco artist’s 1977 song became an anthem for the LGBTQ movement. In Transit (Jaclyn Bethany) Drama set in a small town in Maine brings two women together, one a complacent young bartender who agrees to model for a floundering painter. Li tt le Trouble Girls (Urska Djukic) Slovenian drama follows an in troverted 16-year-old girl who joins her Catholic school’s all-girl choir and befriends a popular older student.
