Greetings two-leggers! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Big Red, the Highland cow of noble fluff, resident of fabulous Fulshear, and probably the most photogenic creature you’ll ever meet (not that I’m vain, just honestly self-aware). My days? A delicate balance of grazing, lounging, and giving majestic side-eye to tourists. I live for the grass—lush, dewy, and slightly chilled with a hint of Brazos water. It’s a flavor profile you people just don’t appreciate. You may think life is simple for a cow, but let me tell you, it’s no picnic. Have you ever tried walking with a fringe so thick you can’t see your own hooves? I’ve accidentally head butted more fences than I care to admit. And don’t get me started on the birds that try to nest in my fur. This is no Airbnb, Shelby the sparrow! Fashion-wise, I’m an icon. My shaggy ginger coat is waterproof, windproof, and frankly fantastic. It’s like wearing a walking duvet that occasionally smells like wet hay. Now let’s talk horns. No, we don’t use them for jousting—unless provoked by an overly enthusiastic sheep dog. They are mostly just for show. A reminder that I am a hugger and not a hazard. My boy Clayton thinks l make a good pillow. So next time you’re driving through the country and spot a glorious ginger fluffball giving you side eye, come say hello. But bring snacks. I expect carrots, compliments, and the occasional oat roll. Until then, may your pastures be green and your fringe be tame. Moo-ving on, your resident Highland cow, Big Red
