FAITH AND COMMUNITY Many local churches offer inclusive worship opportunities and incredible special needs ministries. Kingsland Baptist Church, St. Faustina Catholic Church, St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, and Holy Covenant United Methodist Church all have programs to support children and families during services and beyond. Finding a church that understands your family’s needs can be a game-changer for building connection and spiritual support. DAY-TO-DAY TOOLS Even simple tasks like grocery shopping can be challenging, which is why the Caroline Cart is such a win. It is a specially designed shopping cart that allows families with older children or adults with mobility needs to shop more comfortably. You can check the Caroline Cart website to find out which stores near you carry them or how to request that your local store add one. TRANSITION AND YOUNG ADULT PROGRAMS As children grow into adulthood, finding programs that support independence becomes so important. The Texana Cafe Internship Program teaches job skills in a real-life setting while serving up some of the best breakfast and lunch around.

Brookwood’s Day Work Program offers a meaningful work environment for adults with disabilities. The on-site café and garden center are open to the public. Howdy Homemade Ice Cream in Katy is a local ice cream shop on a mission to create jobs and joy for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their team of heroes scoops

Ainsley’s Angels is an inclusive racing team that pairs athletes with disabilities with volunteer runners to experience the joy and excitement of endurance events together. Whether it’s a fun run or a full marathon, Ainsley’s Angels ensures everyone can cross the finish line with wind in their hair and smiles on their faces. If your child connects with animals, equine therapy programs like SIRE Therapeutic Horsemanship and Reigning Strength offer opportunities for children to build strength, confidence, and emotional connection through horseback riding and barn activities. SENSORY-FRIENDLY EVENTS If loud, crowded events are tricky for your family, you’re not alone. Places like Dig World, Romp n Roll, Slick City Katy, and Urban Air Adventure Park all offer sensory-friendly event times throughout the month. These are great opportunities for kids to play and explore in a way that feels safe and supported.
