- Hermoine Gallow, LCISD 2022-2023 Secondary Teacher of the Year Learning continues throughout our lives. The next critical step on your path to success is met at the secondary level, college, or trade school. As education continues, so must the love for teaching. Some teachers find their joy as professors at the intermediate level. They are not only tasked with teaching information, but they also put young adults on the course of their future toward success and stability. Kathryn Tart, professor and founding dean of the UH Andy & Barbara Gessner College of Nursing, started her career after earning her master’s degree in nursing and became an adjunct clinical faculty member. Her love for nursing and teaching propelled her into a career as a nurse educator. Q: What do you find to be the most rewarding part of your job? A: Commencement and pinning ceremonies are the culmination of the student’s journey with the Gessner College of Nursing. It is a joy to see the students and their families celebrate. I feel that each graduate is a precious gift to our community because I know of the impact our graduates will make on the lives of those they care for throughout their nursing careers.

Q: What is your greatest accomplishment so far in your professional career?
STUDENTS PRE-K2 THROUGH 12 TH GRADE pain ever reminds me that my gifts are not mine; they are spiritual gifts that come from God. It is only through him that I can continue in my gifts. A: My greatest accomplishment so far as a teacher has been to be open to allowing my students to change me. Q: What role do you believe instructors/professors play in shaping the future of their students and the industry? A: All faculty are nurses. They know country. Our faculty represent the diversity of our community and are keenly interested in student success. Our faculty are engaged with the community, they are role models, coaches, scholars, and professionals to help support students in the nursing profession. there is a shortage of nursing professionals in our state and
The significance of teachers and their undeniable value deserve the highest of praise. It is crucial for educators to find fulfillment and satisfaction in their careers, as this directly impacts their ability to inspire and motivate students and our future. When teachers are passionate and engaged in their work, they create dynamic learning environments where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Appreciating educators is an investment in the future prosperity of our communities and the success of generations to come.
