RIDGE POINT PANTHERS RPHS was a force to be reckoned with on the hardwood, as both the boys (23-10) and girls (17-14) basketball teams competed well enough in the district to earn a playoff berth. Dorian Hayes and Jaylen Singleton were the bread-winners for coach Darren Johnson’s squad, while Sydney Thomas and Kennedi Turner were among the key pieces for the girls. The Lady Panthers return to the pitch with more determination than ever, after finishing 2023 as the Class 6A State runner-ups. Coach Evelyn Torres brings back several players from that roster – namely Dayo Tennyson, Camryn LeTellier, and Emma Lovell – which should promise another deep run in the playoffs. The same could be said for the boys, who look to dominate the district yet again, with captain Blake Pipkin leading the way. Ridge Point Baseball should once again dominate in FBISD, after coming off two consecutive undefeated district championships. Texas-commit Jack McKernan will be coach Mike Dutka’s ace, with Will Baker, and Jake Stratton bolstering the lineup. On the softball diamond, junior Braelyn Daniels (LSU-commit) will look to anchor the Panthers crew after reaching the Class 6A Regional Semis a year ago. As we head to the track, watch for Mason Dossett, Sienna Brown, Ashton Bethel-Roman, Rayne Foley, Hartford McCall, and Caitlin Cullison to be just some of the standouts the Panthers feature as they aim for a return to the State meet.
