MARSHALL BUFFALOES Basketball was king for Marshall in the Winter season. Coach Ronnie Courtney’s squad extended their undefeated district win-streak to 44 en route to their third-consecutive district championship. The girls’ team was relatively young and were just outside of the playoff picture in 2023. However, another year of experience for Kennedi Taylor and Shabrion Parks should promise a rise in contention. The reigning Class 5A State Champs – Marshall Boys Track & Field – are back and ready for a repeat. Under the direction of coach Lloyd Banks, the Buffs relay teams should be just as dominant as last year, while the girls’ side intends to run it back after finishing second overall at the State meet. On the diamond, both the baseball and softball teams look to flip the script after working some kinks out a year ago. Look to seniors Nakira Rolling, Devin Pree, Aniyah Williams and Mark Marshall to be among the veterans who can lead their respective young lineups. Similarly, Avion Duncan and Sofia Mora Cruz will be the upperclassmen leaders on the Marshall golf team.
