HIGHTOWER HURRICANES The Hurricanes traversed the Winter season with style, as each program made their claim as contenders. For Canes girls hoops, newcomer Ogechi Okeke lit up the scoreboard in her freshmen debut, while veterans Madison Bob and Jaya Johnson propelled the group to a co-district title. The guys’ side narrowly missed out on the postseason, however, senior Milton Rice showcased consistent flashes of greatness. On the pitch, senior striker Alex Agwunobi has been a goal-scoring machine and is making a case for District MVP, while brother Andres Agwunobi and Angel Duarte anchor a strong Hightower back-line. In the Spring season, the baseball team is coming off a playoff appearance in 2023 and are bringing back main-stays Angel Gutierrez, Roberto Delao and Mason Sly. On the softball field, Adriuana Coleman and Baylee Bonner will look to bring the club back into the playoff conversation. Meanwhile, several Hurricanes track standouts – namely Jaquail Morris, Tori Campbell, Kade Phillips, Veronica Aubrey, and Ephraim Dotson – anticipate strong performances after their success in the district a year ago. Hightower golf is young, but upperclassmen Andre Santos, Javen Nunley, and Jenna Gregorio will provide the experience on the links.
