DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW... that the nation’s first coin bore the inscription “Mind Your Business”? The coin featured an image of a sun and sundial alongside this phrase, as well as the Latin word “fugio” meaning “I fly.” The elements of the design form a rebus, a puzzle in which words are represented by combinations of pictures and individual letters, which translated “time flies, do your work.” The

coin’s design was authorized by the Continental Congress of the United States in 1787 but was only minted until 1789. It was called the “Fugio Cent” or the “Franklin cent” because it was designed by Benjamin Franklin.
