The COVID-19 pandemic and recession have had a profound effect on all of us. We have had to redefine the way we work, the way we play, the way we care for those we love. And if this health crisis hasn’t taught us the importance of caring for and protecting our families and loved ones, I don’t know what will. Your membership with Degree of Honor is more valuable than ever. You simultaneously made a choice to protect your family and make a difference in your community. Thank you! The pictures on the front cover are just a few of the more than 150 check presentations resulting in over $140,000 of help for first responders and food pantries as part of our Love One Another Campaign . You will also see a few pictures of the $50,000 impact you made on parishes, congregations and faith-based non-profit organizations as part of the Christian Comeback . Your membership fuels our cooperative effort to bring light to the darkness. This issue of Honor highlights several new member-only benefits and programs to further enhance the value of membership. I am encouraged by the words of Scripture, “Behold, I am with you always … be not afraid … I make all things new.” Together, we will get through this crisis and emerge stronger. Christian Comeback Program

The “Christian Comeback” program was created to support one of the many groups that have been impacted during these difficult times – our churches. Many churches are suffering from the effects of lower contributions due to low attendance and the recession. Each active chapter/ lodge received $250 to donate to a church of their choice. In fact, in 2019, nearly $290,000 in grade school, high school and college scholarships were awarded to our members! • Catholic elementary school $200 scholarships (eligible annually) are available for students entering grades 1-8. • Catholic high school $500 scholarships (eligible annually) are available for students entering grades 9-12. • College scholarships for $1,000 (four-year institutions) and $500 (two-year institutions) are one-time awards and are not renewable. This year, in place of the service hours typically required in order to apply for the high school and college scholarships, applicants will be asked to submit an essay.
