Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo ¿Qué se necesita para tener éxito en casi cualquier labor? Tómate un momento para pensar en cómo la gente logra sus metas. Los equipos deportivos practican y se preparan para ganar sus competencias. Los actores ensayan y se preparan para que sus actuaciones sean exitosas. Y los cocineros reúnen y pesan los ingredientes para la preparación de una buena comida. Permíteme preguntarte, ¿cómo te estás preparando para la venida de Cristo? El Adviento es el tiempo de preparación para el nacimiento de Jesús. De hecho, la palabra “Adviento” significa “venida” o “llegada” en latín, refiriéndose a la anticipación de la llegada de Cristo a este mundo. Como católicos nos esforzamos por ser Discípulos de Cristo y unirnos a Él en la vida eterna. ¿Cómo te preparas para esto? Aquí hay algunas sugerencias: • Rezar: Incluir una oración diaria en tu vida te permite reflexionar sobre tus pensamientos y acciones en relación con las enseñanzas de Cristo. La oración puede ser una experiencia poderosa y sanadora, y puede ayudarte a preparar el camino para que entre Dios a tu vida. • Dar al pobre: Servir a nuestros hermanos y hermanas que necesitan nuestra ayuda es primordial para vivir como Jesús nos enseñó. No olvidemos, todo lo que hicieron por uno de mis hermanos, aun por el más pequeño, lo hicieron por mí. Mateo 25:40 • Amarse unos a otros: El amor es el corazón del cristianismo. Cuando mostramos amor a los que más nos importan y especialmente a los que son difíciles de amar, estamos viviendo el Evangelio. El Adviento es un tiempo de preparación. Te animo a que incluyas estas actividades en tu vida diaria ... ¡piensa en ello como tu regalo de Navidad para Jesús! ¡Que tengas una bendita temporada de Adviento!

What does it take to be successful in just about any endeavor? Take a moment to think about how people accomplish their goals. Sports teams practice in preparation of winning games. Actors rehearse in preparation of successful performances. And chefs gather and measure ingredients in preparation of cooking a good meal. Let me ask you, how are you preparing for the coming of Christ?

Advent is the season of preparation for the birth of Jesus. In fact, the word “Advent” means “coming” or “arrival” in Latin, referring to the anticipation of Christ’s arrival into this world. As Catholics, we strive to be Disciples of Christ and join Him in everlasting life. How do you prepare for this? Here are some suggestions: • Pray: Incorporating a daily prayer into your life allows you to reflect on your thoughts and actions as they relate to Christ’s teachings. Prayer can be a powerful and healing experience, and can help you prepare the path for God to enter. • Give to the poor: Serving our brothers and sisters who need our help is paramount to living the way Jesus taught us. Let us not forget, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me. Matthew 25:40 • Love one another: Love is the heart of Christianity. When we express love to those we care about most, and especially to those who are hard to love, we are living the Gospel. Advent is a time of preparation .
