Spotlight | WHAT TO SEE Pedestrian Wine & Cheese A CURATED EXPERIENCE

J ust steps from Chattanooga’s iconic Walnut Street Bridge, Pedestrian Wine & Cheese is quietly redefining what a neighborhood wine shop can be. “The name really speaks for itself,” owner Bill Reed says. “We’re all about the pedestrian experience, bringing locals and tourists to this side of the bridge with carefully selected wines from around the world.” That philosophy extends well beyond the bottles on the shelves. Every wine comes with a tasting card, and staff members are trained to guide customers through discoveries rather than simple trans actions. “Our staff is committed to bringing hospitality back into retail,” Reed explains. “We’re not the kind of place that sits behind the counter waiting for people to walk in. We actively engage with the community.” Though the shop has been open for less than a year, Pedestrian has already participated in more than 100 local events, helping establish it as both a retailer and a gathering space for Chatta

and the riverfront. Many ingredients are sourced from regional produc ers, including Sequatchie Cove Farm and The Spotted Trotter. Inside the shop, mozzarella, ricotta, and stracciatella are made fresh in house, reinforcing

Pedestrian’s emphasis on craftsmanship and curation. That same approach shapes its wine club and educational tastings, which en courage customers to connect with the stories behind what they’re eating and drinking. For Bill and Pam Reed, who relocated from New York, Chatta nooga offered something increasingly rare: growth without losing its sense of community. That balance, thoughtful but approachable, curated yet welcoming, now defines Pedestrian Wine & Cheese itself. Located at 50 Frazier Ave. #250, Chattanooga, TN 37405. Open 7 days.
