S ituated along the corner of Georgia Avenue and 4th Street is the Bluff View Art District Herb & Vegetable Garden. Dr. Charles Portera, founder of Bluff View Art District, began working on the garden to help supply fresh herbs, seasonal vegetables, and year-round flowers for the entities and businesses of Bluff View Art District. The garden has served as a landmark in Downtown Chattanooga since 1998. The garden’s landscape features raised garden beds, trellises with wandering vines, and one of a kind artwork. Within the garden is the greenhouse- home to flowers during colder weather and germinating seeds and seedlings prior to transplantation within the garden’s landscape. With dozens of herbs, vegetables, and florals grown on premises, the Bluff View Art District Herb & Vegetable Garden continues the mission of Bluff View Art District and its dedication to the visual, horticultural, and culinary arts. Many of the recipes customers know and love are created using produce from the garden. Bluff View Art District Herb & Vegetable Garden produces over 1,000 pounds of basil annually, making it the garden’s top crop. Basil is used to make signature sauces and basil pesto for Tony’s Pasta Shop and Rembrandt’s Coffee House. Fresh rosemary is used for
