T here is no better natural attraction that takes advantage of the best attributes of each season than beautiful Rock City. This spring is no exception, as Rock City will transform into a lively, ever-changing experience filled with music, performance, fun food, surprising interactions, and nature in bloom. From March 1 – May 11, find daily pop-up performances along Legacy Lane, where creativity abounds. From 10 am to 2 pm see Mossbeard , the whimsical walking tree performed by Jerry the Mime, get a FREE portrait done by our rotating cast of Caricature Artists. The afternoon and evening will feature music performed by Matt Downer the Ol Time Traveler as well as a roster of rotating stringed instrumentalists including a harpist and hammered dulcimer playing acoustic music from 2 pm to 6 pm. Hearth Pavillion will have yard games accompanied by specialty food and drinks such as a walking Dorito taco and peach lemonade. Additional tasty treats can be found at the Perch, Café 7, and Big Rock Grill. Debuting this season, visitors can try the brand-new Tom Thumb Timber Roll , an imaginative, hands-on activity where wooden balls race through gravity-powered obstacle courses built into the natural landscape. Simple enough for kids, intriguing enough for adults, and endlessly fun to try again and again, the course features ramps, twists, and surprises throughout the gardens.
Trail entrances will have a large-scale retro postcard piece for photo-op moments featuring the main feature of that specific trail. Handcrafted lanterns from our Innovations Team will illuminate the trails for extended evening enchantment. Be on the alert as Gnomes are moving back into the gardens. Find their new homes at Standing Stones and throughout the grounds. Spring at Rock City has always been a showcase of blooms and blossoms. Early bloomers include forsythia, daffodils, grape hyacinth, iris and more. As the season progresses, florals like azaleas, rhododendron and mountain laurel burst into bloom. Rock City has long been a place of wonder, but now, for the first time, visitors can experience it through a guided tour. This new offering gives guests a chance to see Rock City in a whole new way — uncovering hidden details, artistic touches, and the history that helped make Rock City what it is today. Led by knowledgeable guides, the tour reveals hidden features and behind-the-scenes stories that most visitors overlook.
