TONY’S PASTA SHOP & TRATTORIA
W andering through the nooks and crannies of Bluff View Art District, you will notice a familiar yet subtle savory hint in the air. It is romantic and nostalgic in a sense, given that Bluff View Art District is Chattanooga’s own European escape. Couple the subtle fragrance with the light river breeze, and you have the perfect dining destination in Tony’s Pasta Shop & Trattoria. The history of Tony’s Pasta Shop & Trattoria began in 1908 when the restaurant’s building served as the carriage house for the then Chattanooga Mayor, T.C. Thompson. Thompson’s mansion was restored as a bed and breakfast home for Bluff View Inn, leaving the carriage house as the ideal location for family-owned
restaurant. Tony’s Pasta Shop & Trattoria (commonly known as Tony’s Pasta Shop or Tony’s) opened its doors to the city of Chattanooga in December 1994. Beginning as a small gourmet grocery store with only a few dine-in seats, Tony’s building has been remodeled and renovated five times- allowing for more seating and service opportunities. Serving authentic Sicilian recipes while maintaining a causal dining atmosphere, Tony’s Pasta Shop quickly drew traction amongst locals and traveling guests. Almost 30 year later, those signature flavors and recipes have become a staple in Chattanooga’s culinary community.
