R ock City celebrates the German heritage of their founder, Frieda Utermoehlen Carter, every Saturday, and Sunday throughout October. The area’s premiere German festival features live German music with the Musik Meisters, Wurstbrats and Mark Merriman, along with specialty German food. Café 7 will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, as well as themed food offerings in the pavilion and Big Rock Grill. Try beer-braised bratwursts with German potato salad and mustard, giant pretzels with beer cheese sauce, beer cheese soup bread bowls, Bavarian pork sandwiches with German-style kraut and a variety of Oktoberfest beer drinks. Listen to a story from Ik the Troll King, watch Jerry the Mime entertain and get a caricature drawing by artist Dennis Hart. Pumpkin painting is also available as an add-on
