Welcome to Chattanooga.
M y favorite season in Chattanooga is Fall. As the heat of August dissipates, we begin to feel the cooler mornings, less humidity and the skies begin to change hue to a brighter blue. The perfect backdrop for the coming colors of autumn.With the change in weather comes an increase in outdoor activity for locals and visitors alike. The city and surrounding areas are animated with festivals andmarkets, sporting events like the IRONMANChattanooga Triathlon, 7 Bridges Marathon, ChattaJack31 Paddleboard Race, Head of the Hooch Rowing Regatta, along with great festivals andmarkets like the Moon River Festival, 3 Sisters Bluegrass Festival, multiple brewers’ festivals,Wine Over Water, Rock City’s Rocktoberfest and the world-class Chattanooga Motorcar Festival. The busy outdoor dining options along sidewalk patios or on rooftop bars, reverberate with the excitement of college football crowds, and outdoor enthusiasts take to the rivers, trails, roads, and rocks. Less than six miles fromdowntown Lookout Mountain changes color from top to bottom as the evening temperatures begin to dip. A trip up Lookout is well worth it this time of year. The views from the mountain at Rock City, Ruby Falls, and the Incline Railway are nothing less than spectacular. Be sure and check out the vistas fromPoint Park or Sunset Rock as well. Chattanooga has been blessed with scenic mountains and rolling ridges, picturesque valleys, with the meandering Tennessee River, and her tributaries. This unique landscape provides hundreds of miles of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, climbing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, whitewater rafting andmore. Looking for the ultimate view of fall foliage? Try hang gliding, paragliding, or skydiving on this trip. All these activities are withinminutes of Downtown. In addition to a growing and thriving restaurant foodscape, Chattanooga has developed quite a reputation for an excellent, creative, and tasty craft brewery scene. Visiting beer enthusiasts have given our area brewer masters highmarks and even compared their wares to those found in Boston, Asheville, Lexington, Boulder, and Portland.With twelve breweries and counting, there is something for everyone’s pallet. Give our brews a try while you are in town.We will probably amaze you. The Downtown area is easily accessible for visitors. The compact footprint is walkable frommost hotels, or you can jump on the free electric shuttle with stops every few blocks. A bike rental is a great option, too. Check out the several trendy neighborhood districts such as the Northshore, Riverfront, Southside, andWest Village. Each has its’ own character and vibe.
