An Itinerary: A DAY IN SOUTHSIDE Appetizers: STIR Here you’ll find in-season oysters from the Gulf of Mexico, the Eastern Seaboard, and Pacific and Canadian waters. Fried Oysters Casino is made with bacon, green onion, garlic, shallots, and a butter sauce. Oysters Rockefeller is made with spinach, shallots, Pernod, and Parmesan Cheese. If you prefer tuna, the Poke Bowl includes rice cake, sliced kale, wonton crisps, edamame, cucumbers, carrots, avo cado, shaved radish, sesame seeds, tobiko roe, and a miso vinaigrette.

Breakfast: Frothy Monkey Located in the Chattanooga Choo Choo complex, Frothy Monkey is an “all day cafe” and bakery serving breakfast sandwiches and cof fee. Try the Avo Toast, two slices of sourdough toast with an avocado mash, herb-roasted vegetables, feta cheese, and red radish. The Grit Bowl is made with smoked cheddar cheese grits, chilled prosciutto, arugula, pickled-okra, and dijon sour cream.
Mid-Morning: Sculpture Fields at Montague Park At 33-acres, this is the largest sculpture park in the Southeast. The 40 large-scale sculptures include “Star Center” by Linda
Howard, the towering “Red Alert” by Gary Kulak, and “Captain Merkel’s Ramming Dragon” by Verina Baxter. The Sculpture Fields also include 1.5 miles of trail.
Dinner: Main Street Meats A neighborhood butcher and charcuterie, Main Street Meats prides itself on a whole-animal approach to butchery. This means every part of the animal serves a purpose in the restaurant and shop. For dinner, try the Grilled Pork Coppa, the Fried Bologna &Cheese, the New York Strip, Chilled Asparagus Soup, or the Beef Tartare.
Lunch: Southside Social A boutique bowling alley with a full service menu, Southside Social keeps it southern and keeps it simple when it comes to finger foods that pair well with fun. Try the smoked and boneless wings; Pepper JackMac&Cheese Bites; and Tacos made with chipotle chicken, pulled brisket, chorizo, or portobello. Also on site: ping pong, skee ball, foosball, billiards, darts, giant jenga, and shuffleboard.
Afternoon: Shop Local Southside shopping includes several locally owned boutiques stocked by vendors. You’ll find hand-painted furniture, linens, decor, dishes, lighting, handbags, antiques, and unique gifts. With goods brought in by arti sans and area pickers, you’ll want to check out Merchants on Main, Vinterest Southside, Mostly French, Chrysalis, and Brent Sanders Studio &Gallery.

Drinks: Company A speakeasy-style bar hidden behind a bookshelf in the Kinley Hotel lobby, Company is a nod to the 30 legal distilleries that called Chattanooga home in the early 1900s. Here you’ll find jazz music, low lighting, and a long copper bar. Age 21+ only, and reservations are strongly recommended. Note: all parties must either pay with a single check or split the bill evenly.
