Yoho National Park Yoho National Park is on the west side of Banff National Park. Despite being neigh bors, Yoho National Park is in the province of British Columbia and Banff National Park is in Alberta. The brilliant colors of the lakes in Canada’s Rocky Mountains had dazzled us, so the Yoho National Park jewel called Emerald Lake was an immediate “must see!” On the road to the lake, we stopped to admire a fabulous series of criss-cross ing turquoise waterfalls surrounded by expansive boulders at the Natural Bridge overlook. Emerald Lake itself is an exquisite alpine lake that was less emerald and more the color of jade under cloudy skies. Bright red canoes dotted the lake and, as we hiked along the shore, our ears perked up when we heard the distinctive cry of a loon. We spotted a loon repeatedly dunking his head in the water and shaking sprays of droplets off his wing feathers just a few yards away.
