Americans who lived in the Grapevine area long before European settlers arrived. In 1843, in what was known as Grape Vine Prairie, 10 Native American chiefs and captains met with the Republic of Texas President Sam Houston in the spirit of peace, friendship, hope and trust. This meeting would eventually lead to the signing of the Treaty of Bird’s Fort. To commemorate this historical event, Grapevine created the Peace Circle with 11 bronze statues featuring Sam Houston and Native American chiefs from the Delaware, Chickasaw, Caddo, Waco, Tawakoni, Keechi, Anadarko, Ioni, Biloxi and Cherokee nations. Finally, for one fi nal adventure before dinner, we take an elevator up 12 stories to view Main Street and the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The Grapevine Observa tion Tower Tour offers a beautiful view of Grapevine’s festivities and the ice rink directly below. On our last day, we had breakfast at Main Street Bistro before making one last vital stop for a photo with Santa Claus! If anyone knows how to do Christmas, it is Grapevine, Texas, and everyone is on board making the experience, joyful, fun, eventful and memorable. For three days, we enjoyed some of what Grapevine offers visitors during the holiday season. But There’s More Tower Gallery features holiday dioramas, including a classic Christmas past, with the Hometown Christmas exhibit, Captain Christmas and his fellow reindeer. Special holiday performances, movies and dinner theatre at the Historic Palace Theatre, Lancaster Theatre and Texas Star Dinner Theater. Nash Farmhouse Museum & Heritage Center, a restored Victorian farmhouse decorated for the holidays, offers unique activities for the whole family, re fl ecting Christmas in the late 1800s.
