Get Creative You wouldn’t believe the job variety among RVers. Working

remotely, outside of a traditional office setting, is the latest trend. A number of my RVing friends asked their bosses if they could take their job on the road, and the answer was yes. For the self-employed who are used to a home office, the transition to full-time travel can be almost seamless. If neither of those cases applies to you, it’s time to get creative. Fortu- nately, there are a number of resources available. Even if you can’t take your current job on the road, that doesn’t mean the door to full-time RVing is closed. By taking risks and rethinking your career future, you can likely make it work. Many people think they’ll be able to rely solely on free WiFi at coffee shops and campgrounds, but frustration sets in quickly when connections are slow or completely unreliable. In two years of RVing, I can count on one hand the number of campgrounds that had Internet connections good enough for us to use for work. Fortunately, carrying your own Internet is easy, even for those un- comfortable with technology. We have iPhones with AT&T that we can use as hotspots with the swipe of a finger. We also have a hotspot device through Ver- izon. For those who can’t go without connectivity, it’s a good idea to have plans with two different companies. Once you purchase your data plan(s), you’ll want to plan your travels through areas where you’ll have adequate coverage. For that, we use Technomadia’s “Coverage?” app, which you can download for $2.99 through the Apple App Store.

Anticipate Challenges No matter what kind of work you’re considering, there will
