tion as we set our eyes forward on Escapees’ fi rst stroke of paint on this years’ canvas. “While we anxiously step across the threshold of the New Year, one foot must remain fi rmly planted in the past. And although we will always seek improvement, our foundation must be both genuine and purposeful.” This yearly exercise, known as annual planning, is a time when sentiment and logic must play yet another game of tug of war. It’s an exhausting back and forth struggle where egos and pride are checked at the door and numbers de fi ne success and facts. However, while we may pay close attention to the candid paper reports spread across the table before us, we will never neglect our principles as we review fi nancials and manage budgets. Because, for us, there are no instruments greater than passion and ethics to lead us in the right directions. There is no window that sees beyond the horizon that can better guide us than the stars above. And there is no compass greater than the heart to navigate us into the future.

Here at Escapees, we are wishing you 12 months of success, 52 weeks of laughter, 365 days of adventure, 8,760 hours of joy, 525,600 minutes of good luck and 31,536,000 seconds of happiness! N ew Year’s Day can remind us of how cyclical life can be, as each year is determined by a set schedule of 12 reoccurring months captured on a series of rectangular sheets that we replace at the end of each year. While the process may feel routine, and some years may be similar, no two years are alike. Such as with an artist and a painting, each year etches its own story to create the experience and memories in which we are de fi ned, much like a fresh brush stroke on a new canvas.
