Since its founding in 1889, leading Swiss boarding school Institut auf dem Rosenberg has pioneered individual and forward-thinking education with the aim of preparing students for entrepreneurial roles in the future. According to a new white-paper report by researcher Euromonitor International, traditional education systems fail to prepare students for the 21st century world of work, since 65% of primary school children are likely to work in jobs that do not yet exist. For this reason, Rosenberg’s headmaster and director, Bernhard Gademann, is committed to disrupting the traditional approach to education by embracing cutting-edge technology and pioneering a unique Talent & Enrichment program. This program consists of over a hundred ‘co-curricular’ courses that run alongside five traditional education pathways — ranging from Applied Robotics and Corporate Finance to Diplomacy & Leadership classes. The program aims to nurture important
human skills such as creativity, ethics and public speaking, while encouraging students to embrace technology from an early age. Students enjoy a Renaissance approach to education, with the ability to explore connections across the curriculum. In line with this aim, the school has recently unveiled the new Rosenberg Future Park — a state-of-the-art learning facility featuring a Climate Garden, a Farm Bot and Wind Trees. Here students undertake projects to solve humanity’s future challenges, guided by experts and in partnership with leading organizations from the fields of science and technology, including ETH Zurich university, SAGA space architects and Boston Dynamics — renowned specialists in robotics design.
