HUBLOT MP-09 TOURBILLON BI-AXIS

GREUBEL FORSEY ART PIECE 2 EDITION 2

HARRY WINSTON HISTOIRE DE TOURBILLON 8

A sensational work of technology, aesthetics and innovation, the Hublot MP-09 Tourbillon Bi-Axis offers grand visibility of the tourbillon escapement at the 6 o’clock position on the unusually shaped watch. To create this timepiece, Hublot’s master technicians first designed the movement and then built a case around it. The self-winding mechanical caliber features a biaxial tourbillon that completes a rotation once per minute for the first axis and once every 30 seconds for the second axis for a constantly whirling effect. The watch also features an innovative date corrector. The multi-level dial indicates hours, minutes and date. The watch is crafted in Hublot’s proprietary 18K King Gold. $211,000 Where to buy Hublot in New York, contact Oren Agai, boutique director, o.agai@hublot.com, +1 646 582 9813, hublot.com

Greubel Forsey has long been a leader in innovation. Its newest hand-wound Art Piece watch features a patented Double Tourbillon 30° (meaning the double tourbillon escapement is inclined at a 30-degree angle) that is designed to take center stage as a piece of art. In this watch, time is secondary, and it features a push-piece that needs to be activated in order to obtain the indication of the hours and minutes on the subdial at 5 o’clock. The power reserve indicator is shown via a long hand that reaches from the hours/minutes to the left portion of the dial at 7 o’clock. The concept behind the watch is to be more concerned with the time remaining than with the current time. Signed by Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey, the Art Piece 2 will be limited in production to just a few pieces per year. $540,000 Where to buy Contact Carol McGuinness, Time Art Distribution, +1 212 221 8041, greubelforsey.com

Harry Winston’s newest Histoire de Tourbillon 8 is the eighth in a series of incredibly complex tourbillon timepieces that the brand regularly develops. This 51mm watch is offered this year in two colorways, anthracite and red, and the one we love most is the red version. The watch houses the mechanical manual- wind 4503 caliber consisting of a staggering 534 parts. The partially open-worked movement has two biaxial tourbillons rotating at different times (45 seconds for the interior cages and 75 seconds for the exterior cages). Connected by a spherical differential, the tourbillons counteract the effects of gravity no matter what position the wrist is in. Equipped with two barrels and three springs, the watch offers 55 hours of power reserve. The case is crafted in 18K white gold. Just 10 pieces will be made of the red version.
