CHOPARD LUC LUNAR ONE

A LANGE & SÖHNE 1815 ANNUAL CALENDAR

PATEK PHILIPPE REF 5320G This year, Patek Philippe indulged in true classic elegance with the Reference 5320G Perpetual Calendar with moonphases. Inspired by several watches the brand produced in the mid-1900s, including one that is in the brand’s museum in Geneva, the watch is crafted in 18K white gold with a cream lacquered dial for vintage appeal. The piece features gold applied numerals outlined in black with luminescent coating within, as well as luminescent hands. The day and date indication at 12 o'clock balances beautifully with the moonphase disk and date indication at 6 o'clock, with leap-year indication to the right. The watch is powered by the mechanical self-winding caliber 324 S Q with perpetual calendar module. $82,784 In its continued commitment to precision and fine craftsmanship, Chopard unveils an all-new LUC Lunar One version — crafted in a material worthy of the caliber: 950 platinum. The perpetual calendar model with astronomical moonphase display also features a deep blue sunray-patterned multi-level dial. The unique moonphase subdial at 6 o’clock depicts a dark blue sky studded with stars of the northern hemisphere, as well as an orbital moon that imitates the path of the evening star. The display offers such astronomical precision that it will take 122 years to accumulate a one-day time lag compared to the actual moon. The 43mm platinumwatch with 355-part movement is equipped with a micro-rotor and carries the Hallmark of Geneva. It is also a COSC-certified chronometer. Just 100 pieces will be made of the Luc Lunar One. $69,260 Where to buy Chopard in New York, +1 212 223 2304, chopard.com

IWC DA VINCI PERPETUAL CALENDAR CHRONOGRAPH The new Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph represents the first IWC in-house-made movement, the 89630 caliber, to combine the double chronograph counter with moonphase system, both on a single subdial at 12 o’clock. The moon remains stationary against the night sky, while the moonphase disc below the dial, acting as a shadow of the Earth, depicts the waxing and waning moon. The perpetual calendar is so precise that in the course of 577.5 years, the display will deviate by just one day from the moon’s actual course. For the chronograph, the hour and minute counters are combined in a totalizer that enables stopped times to be read off as if they were the time of day. The 43mm stainless steel watch is finished with a black leather strap by Santoni. A sapphire crystal caseback reveals the complex movement. $29,900 Where to buy IWC in New York, +1 212 355 7271, iwc.com German watch brand A Lange & Söhne is a master of complex calibers. The new 1815 Annual Calendar watch features a manually-wound movement. A button at 2 o’clock collectively advances all indications, while three recessed push pieces allow separate corrections of the day, month and moonphase. For the first time in an A Lange calendar model, the date can also be separately advanced with an additional recessed push piece. A sapphire-crystal caseback allows for viewing of the 345-part movement, with complete ratchet and crown wheels visibly integrated into the German-silver three-quarter plate. The watch is crafted in 18K white gold and features a solid silver dial. $36,600 Where to buy Available at A Lange & Söhne in New York, +1 646 828 3150, alange-soehne.com

GLASHÜTTE ORIGINAL SENATOR EXCELLENCE PERPETUAL CALENDAR

Demonstrating a unique design approach to the perpetual calendar, Glashütte Original turns out a truly contemporary piece. The Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar features a harmoniously balanced dial with leap-year indication at 12 o’clock via a small aperture, the month at 2 o’clock, the brand’s iconic Panorama Date at 4 o’clock, the moonphase indication at 8 o’clock and the day of week at 10 o’clock for a full look around the dial. The 42mm case is beautifully crafted in satin-polished rose gold. At the brand’s Saxony, Germany, manufacture, each watch is subjected to a series of rigorous tests over a period of 24 days, under conditions even more demanding than those of the German chronometer test. A special engraving on the caseback serves as the seal of quality, and each owner is provided with the test results for their own watch. $37,100 Where to buy Available at Tourbillon in Short Hills, NJ, +1 973 564 5864, glashuette-original.com
