We may just be breaking into spring, but one of the key trends for this season requires a certain amount of skin to be on show. It’s time to take things off the shoulder.

The editors and buyers in off-the-shoulder tops, flocking to the first shows of the season, revealed the most visible trend. Young Brazilian designer Barbara Casasola shows that just a sliver of skin can be more sensual than a barely-there dress. Unexpected cutouts and sheer fabrics walked the runway at her London show. The long sleeved, bodycon off-the-shoulder dress (right) is our date night choice. Who knew collarbones, décolletage and ankles could be über sexy. Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci presented a moving show and tribute in the shadow of One World Trade Center. Tisci showed a completely black and white collection that featured many of his signature designs.
