TAKE THREE/// KITTEN HEELS
1. PAUL ANDREW Paul Andrew keeps both fashion and comfort in mind, offering a plethora of downright lovely low-heeled and flat shoes. The 2.6in-high Carpanthian slingback’s defining flourish is the metallic silver accent on its strap. $795, available online at farfetch.com
2. JIMMY CHOO At 3.3in high, the sophisticated Erin slingback just barely qualifies as a kitten heel. The adjustable strap lets you wear them bare-legged in summer
and with tights come fall. $595, available online at jimmychoo.com
In the trenches Forget the traditional beige trench coat. This season, designers transform the utilitarian garment into a surprising statement piece. ErdemMoralioglu brought his trademark femininity and embroidery to a plaid trench. A nature scene blossoming with flowers and animals winds its way around the base of the coat, and there’s embroidery on the arm as well. A corset-like belt unexpectedly finishes off the look. Also unexpected is Giambattista Valli’s choice of soft pink on his long trench. Thick metallic stitching and silver buttons toughen up the delicate hue, which will surely stand out from the crowd on a rainy day. We think it’s so elegant it could double as an evening coat. ErdemMaurice coat in camel, $4,025, available for pre-order at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, +1 212 753 4000, erdem.com Giambattista Valli trench, $3,410, available online at modaoperandi.com
3. CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN Compared with the vertiginous
stilettos Louboutin is known for, the 2.8in-high Frou Mid pump seems like the brand’s idea of a starter shoe. But we love the sexy front ruffle and patent-leather details. $725, similar styles available online at christianlouboutin.com
