NuovoMilano

A former distillery in Milan is about to open as one of the world’s most fashionable public art spaces, namely the new headquarters for the Fondazione Prada. Created by Miuccia Prada (left, top) in 1993, the foundation’s aim is to promote artistic talent in all forms. The new building, reimagined by Rem Koolhaas, will do that, with seven galleries, a cinema and a gold tower housing a restaurant. An impressive roster of talent has lined up to get involved. Opening exhibits range from an installation by Thomas Demand to a talk on the future of cinema from Roman Polanski. Director Wes Anderson (left, below) has designed the bar in the style of traditional Milanese cafés, and students from the local architectural college have created a kids’ area. It opens in time for the city’s Expo on the future of food, an event that has generated much architectural and creative endeavor, with a revamped harbor area around La Darsena and a “new food district”. fondazioneprada.org, expo2015.org

3: Hauser Wirth & Schimmel - Los Angeles A carefully curated, progressive outlook is the hallmark of Iwan Wirth, the art dealer behind noteworthy galleries in London, New York, Zurich and coming soon, a former flour mill in Los Angeles. hauserwirth.com
