Escape routes Escapism takes many forms; for some, true luxury is as much about seeking solace from the world as it is about high-thread counts and obsequious service. Two new books reflect this outlook, presenting in glamorous form the kinds of places where you really can get away from it all. Cabin Porn (due to be published later this year by Little Brown & Company) is the literary version of the popular website showcasing fantasy huts from the Wild West to the Himalayas. Remote Places To Stay by Debbie Pappyn and David de Vleeschauwer (out now, published in collaboration with Benelux, National Geographic and Rizzoli) moves things up a notch by picking out the world’s most isolated hotels and showcasing their beautifully stark locations in glorious technicolor. Stand-outs include Canada’s Fogo Island Inn (pictured), Wolwedans in the bleak deserts of Namibia and Hotel Budir in Iceland’s frozen north. cabinporn.com; findingremote.com
