The Peacock Clock in Hermitage . Mikhail Guryev is a main watch and clock repairer in Hermitage. He winds the beautiful Peacock Clock every Wednesday evening. All the intricate elements of the clock start to move and the peacock’s tail opens up.

Moyka River . This three-mile long river encircles the centre of St Petersburg, almost turning it into an island. More people now enjoy it on Jet Ski.

Peterhof The Peterhof Museum Complex is regarded as the “capital of fountains”. The summer is the best time to visit, when it is a pleasure to walk next to magnificent fountains and along shady alleys. Peterhof park is a good place for romance and it’s where I met my future wife.

The State Hermitage With more than three million exhibits, the Hermitage is one of the largest and oldest museums in the world. For lovers of contemporary art I recommend a visit to the General Staff Building.

“Russian Vodka Room #1” . Here you can taste 213 different kinds of Russian vodka. For foodies there are very special dishes – pancakes with black caviar or stroganina (sliced frozen raw fish) on ice. I say these are best accompanied by vodka shots in glasses of ice.
