Created by the late architect Dame Zaha Hadid alongside Patrik Schumacher , Volu is a dining pavilion shaped like an open clamshell. Inside is a circular wooden dining table – a flat disk supported on a stump carved from a single piece of wood – and three curved benches that seat up to 10 diners. This fusion of design, engineering and manufacturing is supported by a steel stem at the back, which extends and flattens upwards to create the canopy. Its structure recreates principles found in nature. Volu is part of property developer architects and designers are invited to create living spaces.
