Soneva Jani in the Maldives, set to open in October

NEW LUXURY

StuartMcNeill, director of Knightsbridge Circle, recommends the best new luxury destinations opening this year My hot opening is Miavana on Nosy Ankao, a private island off the coast of Madagascar. A luxury 14-villa destination, surrounded by beaches and coral reefs, is due to open in December. Architects Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens – behind Zambia’s Chinzombo – are creating the look. The Ritz Paris reopened in June. Interior architect Thierry W Despont oversaw work that unveiled three restaurants, three bars, plus gardens and terraces with retractable roofs and heating so they can be enjoyed all year round. In July, Wilderness Safari’s Goroke Camp opened in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. Located south of Chitabe, you can explore waterways, islands and savannas. There are nine canvas rooms including a family roomwith plunge pool. Soneva Jani in the Maldives opens in October. Its villas will be built over water and land. Soneva Jani is on Medhufaru Island in Noonu Atoll, 35 minutes by seaplane from Malé International Airport and an hour’s speedboat trip from sister resort, Soneva Fushi.
