EXPLORE HAVANA

Now that US tourists are allowed to visit Cuba, photographer Jon Arnold shows us what to expect with some of his favorite shots of its capital, Havana Through a lens Havana, Cuba

Centro Havana Walking along the street (above) I spotted these two old 1950s American cars parked up next to a strikingly painted building. Just love the colors. La Bodeguita del Medio I headed straight to the most famous bar in Havana on my first evening in the city, La Bodeguita del Medio (right), a cozy bar where Hemingway sipped his favorite Mojitos. José Martí Memorial Clear morning light and a shimmering blue Caribbean sky made this shot of the José Martí Memorial (above right) bold and graphic.

Cigar shop I came across a cigar shop (far right) in a former cigar factory. From the heat and chaos of the Havana streets you enter a hushed, air-conditioned room full of cabinets displaying Cuba’s premium cigars. Woman with cigar The contrast of the lady’s white dress (opposite page) against the vivid ochre wall and the cigar... this could only be Cuba.
