Elite Traveler HRS 2025
53,820-sq-ft-space where hours gently glide by in a lovely haze of treatments and comfy spots to have a snooze and an herbal tea. The spa also follows the energy constitutions, and di ff erent areas have di ff erent amenities depending on the constitution. Begin at the Centre, where there’s a bliss-inducing hydropool with a glass-domed roof above. From there, you can explore the other stations (you might fi nd yourself more drawn to your speci fi cenergy constitution). The Red Phoenix has Finnish saunas — the hottest at 194°F and with a fl oor-to-ceiling window to gaze out at the mountains — and an ice pool at 44°F. The two contrasts represent the maximum yang and the maximum yin. The Green Dragon has aromatic bio-saunas and a sensory waterfall; The White Tiger has a steam bath; The Black Tortoise has a hypersaline salt water lake that is only available by appointment. There’s also an excellent gym that is open 24 hours. obviously plenty of healthy options (including a juice machine where you can make your own; I went for carrot and ginger or celery and apple) and some less-healthy options like delightful, ever-changing pastries and champagne to wash it down. It’s perfectly acceptable to come to breakfast and lunch in your robe and slippers, too. Grual is the resorts’ fancier restaurant (read: no robes allowed) and is like walking into a magical reimagining of the surrounding forests with plush green upholstery and foliage decor. Choose from one of the tasting menus (either eight or 12 courses) to sample cuisine from organic supplies from Trentino Alto Adige; chef Matteo Maenza’s inventive cuisine is divided into di ff erent altitudes — high mountain, alpine pasture and valley fl oor. LEFAY RESORT & SPA DOLOMITI PINZOLO, ITALY Found in the ski area of Madonna di Campiglio in Pinzolo, the largest town in the Val Rendena, you’d understand if most of Lefay Resort & Spa’s well heeled guests were here to ski Italy’s Dolomites, the dramatic Unesco World Heritage Site mountain range (it’s a six-minute stroll to a slope). And while the resort certainly caters to all things ski — there’s a ski room and an internal ski shop where guests can hire equipment or buy snow accessories and ski passes, plus a free private transfer to and from Pinzolo lifts — the resort is renowned for its impeccable wellness facilities; the spa spans four fl oors and is one of the largest in the region. STAY The resort’s architecture is sleek and striking, and the suites follow suit with chic neutral color palettes to let the views of the mountains command attention. The one-bedroom Exclusive Spa Suite has its own whirlpool and sauna; the Royal Pool and Spa Suite has an indoor whirlpool, two saunas, a treatment space and an outdoor whirlpool on the terrace. The Penthouse is better for groups or those who just want tons of space — it has three bedrooms (the master has its own sauna and Jacuzzi), a dining area, fully furnished kitchen with a bar, and a furnished private terrace with a Jacuzzi. The resort is also surprisingly family friendly — there’s a kids club — which, judging by the reactions of the kids I saw, is a hoot — and the Family Suite caters with two bathrooms and two bedrooms.
