For a small island nation, the Brits aren’t exactly known for exploring their own backyard. While it’s easy to poke fun, anyone who’s braved the bumper to-bumper Cornish commute or spent an evening on a delayed train will understand why so many have opted to fl y farther a fi eld — that is unless they’ve stepped aboard a Belmond train. Known for rede fi ning luxury travel, Belmond has longo ff ered a way to explore Britain in style, with both the British Pullman and the Royal Scotsman hot tickets. Now, with the launch of The Britannic Explorer, A Belmond Train, set to debut in July 2025, there's an entirely new way to see England and Wales, turning the idea of the staycation into a grand adventure. The Britannic Explorer will o ff er a series of three-night itineraries across three stunning routes: the coastlines of Cornwall, the dramatic fells of the Lake District and the rolling hills of Wales. Each journey promises more than just good views from the windows, as passengers have the option to stepo ff and explore the destinations with expertly guided tours of local treasures, including private dinners at the renowned Hauser & Wirth Somerset As Belmond’s vice president of trains and cruises, Gary Franklin, puts it: “The Britannic Explorer o ff ers something truly unique; an opportunity to discover the rugged Cornish coastline to Snowdonia’s untamed National Park and the vast expanses of the Lake District like never before.” Back on board, guests will discover the Britannic Explorer is packed with amenities designed to elevate every moment of the journey.
