DINE Perhaps a bit unexpected in the Caribbean, but

THE ST REGIS BAHÍA BEACH RESORT RÍO GRANDE, PUERTO RICO After sustaining serious damage during Hurricane Maria in 2017, The St Regis Bahía Beach re-opened in 2019 refreshed and revived. The resort took advantage of the forced closure to undergo a $60 million renovation and update its rooms, suites and Casa Grande with a new contemporary aesthetic and create sensational views at its fine-dining restaurant, Paros. Thankfully, the landscape recovered quickly due to the island’s tropical climate, and an abundance of flowers, trees and plants flourish across the grounds, especially around the raised boardwalk that weaves through the property. Simply walking back to your room after dinner makes you feel like you’ve been transported to a far-flung, exotic locale. Conservation is important to the resort, which sprawls over 483 acres and is situated next to two miles of practically empty beach. Over 65 percent of the grounds is preserved for green areas, trails and nature sanctuaries, and it’s the first and only resort in the Caribbean certified by Audubon International as a Certified Gold Signature Sanctuary. The resort is 30 minutes from Old San Juan, but with the abundance of activities and restaurants on property, you might not find a reason to leave.
